Coconut Oil: One Bottle for Cooking, Hair and Skin

One of the things people ask us most is whether our coconut oil is a cooking oil or a hair oil. It's both - the same bottle, used either way, because nothing is added or taken out after pressing that would make it suited for one and not the other.

In the kitchen

Wood-pressed coconut oil has been part of everyday cooking in Tamil Nadu households for generations - used for tempering, frying, and dishes where its natural aroma is part of the flavour rather than something to mask. Because it's unrefined, that coconut aroma stays present in the food, unlike the neutral smell of a refined cooking oil.

On hair and scalp

Oiling the hair with coconut oil before a wash is a routine most South Indian households grew up with. It's used the same way here - applied to the scalp and lengths, left on for a while, then washed out. We don't make any claims beyond that; it's simply the traditional oiling practice, using an oil that's food-safe enough to also sit on your skin without concern.

On skin

The same bottle works as a simple moisturiser, particularly for dry areas like heels and elbows. Since it's a single ingredient with nothing added, it's easy to patch-test on a small area first if you're using it on skin for the first time.

Choosing a size

We keep it simple - 500ml for a starter size, or 1 Litre for regular households who go through it faster between cooking and hair oiling. Both are the same wood-pressed batch, just different bottle sizes.
